The Red Road of Life

Key Quality
:
Balance Between Mind & Heart

This card calls for a balance between the mind and the heart. It teaches you that relationships exist in the third dimension, in life. To create win-win in your relationships, do not let one aspect dominate the other.

The Co-Creative Task of this Direction:
Living

Unite Mental and Emotional -
Introspection and Perception

This is the direction of Life - it is how we walk and act in the world. We constantly move back and forth between feelings and emotions in all our actions, sometimes allowing one to dominate, sometimes knowing  it is appropriate to emphasize one over the other.

We get into trouble when we detach from one aspect and get stuck purely in the other. Look at any two people in an argument - invariably one will be in his or her feelings, and the other will be in his or her head. It is as though they are on a teeter-totter, and you can see it in their eyes and faces. One is dominant (the "thinker") and the other is submissive (the "feeler"). But both resent the other for the posture they hold, and the roles will often flip back and forth.

If you have drawn a card in this direction, you are being called on to be aware of any tendency to be either in your emotions or in your intellect. If you find yourself in conflict, one way to move through it is to center. Place a golden ring inside your head. Then center it, so that it "floats" at the level of the middle of your ears. Focus on it as it rests there, and notice the lessening of stress.
